Required Software for your Computer

In order to view the full interface replay of the webcast, we recommend that you use Netscape Navigator 3.01. You will need the Progressive Network's RealPlayer 4.01 to listen to live internet audio.

Netscape Navigator - for viewing slides
RealPlayer - for internet audio
If you have already installed the RealPlayer on your Macintosh or PC-compatible, please make sure it is at least version 4.01. Earlier versions of RealPlayer will cause errors. The RealAudio player is an earlier product now superceded by RealPlayer on PC compatibles running Windows95 or NT, and on Macintosh PowerPC models.

You can test internet audio playback by going to the test page. This will automatically check that you have the right stuff and offer you a replay of a similar style of conference talks.

Netscape 3.01 download and installation

There is a known problem between RealPlayer and Netscape Communicator on the Macintosh in relation to plugins and JavaScript. Progressive Networks (makers of RealPlayer) and Netscape are working on a solution. In the meantime, MAC users should stay with Netscape 3.01.

Download

Decide which version of Netscape Navigator you need to download.

Netscape 3.01 (for Windows95 or WindowsNT)
Netscape 3.01 (for Macintosh PowerPC or 680x0)

Netscape is a product of Netscape Inc. Follow the link for more information about Netscape and their products.

Installation - Windows users

The file you download will be a compressed .exe file containing the setup files for Netscape 3.01. You should not download this file to the directory containing your current running version of Netscape Navigator. When you download you will be given the opportunity to change the directory for the downloaded file.

Once you download this file, you need to extract the Nestscape setup files. To do this, run the .exe file. You can do this in several ways. For example, you could double click the filename in File Manager or Explorer, or run the program at the MSDOS command prompt.

Once you have extracted the files, run the file setup.exe (one of the extracted files) to install Navigator.

The Setup program will ask you for the target directory for the installation. If you want to use your existing bookmarks, preferences, and settings, you can install Netscape Navigator into the directory of your current Navigator (be sure to quit your current Navigator).

You will be prompted to restart Windows. You can wait until you have installed the other required components before restarting Windows.

Installation - Macintosh users

Before you download Navigator, take note of the folder to which you are downloading Navigator. The default location is your Macintosh desktop. You should not download your new version of Netscape Navigator into the same directory as your current version of Navigator. You can change the default download directory by selecting General Preferences item from the Options menu, and changing the Downloads Directories on the Applications tab.

The compressed file that you download will extract automatically. If you are unable to unpack the downloaded files, you should use Stuffit Expander.

The installer will appear in your target folder. Double-click the installer. It will prompt you for an installation folder. The default folder is called Netscape. If you install into the Netscape folder that contains your current version of Navigator, your old version of Netscape Navigator will be overwritten, but you can still use your existing bookmarks, preferences, and settings.
