From ERA
The ERA project has been supported by funding from:
1 JANET (Joint Academic NETwork)
In late 2008, the ERA project team won funding from JANET to investigate back-haul technologies (long-range wireless, satellite, 3G) in order to connect the remote network to the Internet.
2 JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee)
In 2009 ERA won funding from JISC to explore VoWLAN - Voice over Wireless Local Area Networks. A big challenge for ERA is to provide reliable high quality two way audio communications across difficult terrain, sometimes out of line-of-sight. The JISC funding has allowed us to research how well Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) can work over multihop wireless local area networks in the field.
