- “Evaluating Platforms for Community Sensemaking: Using the Case of the Kenyan Elections” is the paper written by our University of Delft partners, Vittorio Nespeca, Kenny Meesters and Tina Comes. It will be presented at the ISCRAM 2018 Conference, 15th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management, Resilience Track T12, Designing for Resilience. The conference will take place on May 20th-23rd, 2018 in Rochester, NY. The paper will be published in the conference proceedings and it presents part of our research on the evaluation of the COMRADES platform and further investigation of the socio-technical requirements for IT platforms that support community sensemaking and coordination in Crises.
- “Crisis Event Extraction Service (CREES) – Automatic Detection and Classification of Crisis-related Content on Social Media” has been written by The Open University partners, Grégoire Burel and Harith Alani and will be presented at the ISCRAM 2018 Conference, 15th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management. The paper introduces the Crisis Event Extraction Service (CREES), an open-source web API that automatically classifies posts during crisis situations. You can read about CREES here
- “Classifying Crises-Information Relevancy with Semantics” written by The Open University partners Prashant Khare, Gregoire Burel and Harith Alani will be presented at the 15th ESWC - Extended Semantic Web Conference, 3 th – 7th June 2018, Heraklion Crete, Greece. Developed a novel system to automatically distinguish relevant and irrelevant tweets, and showed that the model is more accurate than other approaches when handling a crisis of a new type.
- “Helping Crisis Responders Find the Informative Needle in the Tweet Haystack” is the title of the paper written by COMRADES partners from University of Sheffield namely Leon Derczynski, Kalina Bontcheva and Diana Maynard, as well as Kenny Meesters from University of Delft. The paper basically presents an automated approach to the problem of filtering out relevant and informative messages during a crisis that will help responders deal with the critical issues. It will be presented at the ISCRAM 2018 Conference, 15th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management, on May 20th-23rd, 2018 in Rochester, NY.
